Adoption Process
PLEASE NOTE:
Because of our Adoption Requirements, We reserve the right to limit our adoption area to a 50 Mile Driving Distance from our Center Drive Address.
1) The first step is a phone screening to determine if you have any prior experience working with birds
2) An adoption application must be filled out and returned to us.* Click on the following link for the adoption application. Fill out the application then print it out.Adoption application
3) After the application is returned we will then try to match you up with a bird that fits into
your home and lifestyle based on the birds needs. At this time you have a chance to meet
and interact with the bird.
4) Prior to adopting out the bird, we will do a home visit (mandatory for medium and large birds)**. During this meeting we will give you extensive material regarding basic behavior,
nutrition and training.
5) Almost there now! The last step will be the adoption contract. Please remember, if for any
reason the adoption does not work out you must return the bird back to our rescue and we
will work with you to find the right bird for your situation.
Adoption Fees:***
Parakeets - $10.00
Lovebirds, Cockatiels - $20.00
Medium sized birds such as but not limited to: Conures, Rinkneck Parakeets, Senegals -
$75.00
African Greys, Amazons - $200.00
Macaws, Cockatoos - $300.00
* An individual must be over 18 years of age to adopt.
** Larger birds will not be adopted into homes with small children under the age of 12.
This is not only for safety of the bird but your child also.
*** In some instances, in addition to the adoption fee, the new bird owner will be charged any vet fees that the bird may have incurred.
