Foster
Information

Our adoptive birds are kept in foster care until they can be placed in permanent homes.
Foster care allows us to improve the adoptability of the bird and to increase the chances that the bird will find a permanent home. Foster parents work on behavior or
health problems that the bird may have, socialize the bird in a home environment, and
really make a difference in the bird's life.
• First and foremost you must be able to commit time to the organization and to the birds that you foster.
• After completion of training you start by fostering a small bird. After 6 months you will
have the opportunity to foster a larger bird.
• You must have at least one year handling experience to foster a medium to large bird.
• You must be willing to take on the challenge of birds that may have behavior or health
problems. You must be willing to work with these birds to modify their behavior or health.
• You must have reliable transportation.
• You must be able to foster birds on a long term basis.
• You must be able and willing to provide everything necessary for the bird's well-being while in your care.
• You must have access to an Avian Veterinarian.
